If you’re in the market looking for an affordable home theater project that delivers quality images and displays superbly, then you’re in luck. When you look for a projector, you have to consider the image output quality including the color tones, the blackness levels and the details of the shadows to name a few things. So if you want a device that is superb in terms of brightness and also placement flexibility, then you can’t go past the Panasonic PT-AE4000 projector.

Click here to check out the Panasonic PT-AE4000U 1600 Lumen LCD Home Theater Projector from Amazon and compare prices now

The Panasonic-AE4000 is loaded with extra features that you wouldn’t expect to get from the average projector. For example it comes with a motorized 2:1 lens for zooming. This allows you to place it in more remote places. It also comes with a Lens Memory functionality that allows it to act as an anamorphic lens emulation!

One of the most notable improvements in this device compared to the other models is the massive boost in the brightness mode. I guess Panasonic finally listened to the concerned critics of their previous models and significantly improved the average brightness of this projector. This makes viewing output much pleasurable on the eye to view.

So what does the Panasonic AE4000 have over it’s predecessor the AE3000? Well in short, it surpasses it in almost every imaginable. This includes the image quality you get. It also includes a lot more features and what’s most surprising is the fact that it’s much cheaper! The AE3000 was selling for close to $3000 however, the AE4000 is available to you for just $1999!

Here is a brief list of the advantages of the Panasonic AE4000:

Improved Contrast - the AE4000 is 100,000:1 compared to the AE3000 that was rated at 60,000:1. As you can imagine the difference is nearly double. So when compared to a dark room side by side, the AE4000 is nearly twice as powerful and provides a higher contrast and deeper in blackness levels compared to the AE3000. This means you get deeper and better color saturation, a better impression of sharpness and also a significant improvement in the sense of image depth.

Red Rich Lamp – this feature is exclusive to Panasonic as they have engineered a new proprietary high pressure lamp that increases output of red light at 50% better than the previous model. Traditionally, high pressure lamps were weak in terms of red spectrum light. However, this is not the case for the AE4000. It really takes care of this weakness and eliminates it. So when compared to the older model, the difference is staggering. The red elements are noticeably a lot brighter. The hue of the red is not different, but the red subject matter in itself as a component of the entire output of the picture is much more vibrant. This means the increased red content of the lamp improves the color of skin tones.

Improved Cinema Mode Brightness – both the models of the AE3000 and AE4000 have the same lumen rating, at 1600 lumens. However, the difference in the red enhanced lamp really contributes significantly to a brighter and better image during Cinema mode. The new AE4000 Cinema 1 emits 548 lumens and is a boost of 42%.

The list of advantages that the AE4000 has over the AE3000 truly is staggering. If you want to read the user reviews of the product on Amazon.com then click here. Most of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. However, in order to provide a legitimate review I also need to outline the limitations and disadvantages that the project has.

Disadvantages of the Panasonic AE4000

Throwing distance – Please note that the combination of the zoom lens and the eco-mode lamp can really affect the lumen output of the device to a great extent. What I mean by this is that the Cinema 1 mode emits 550 lumens if you have the lamp itself on full power with the zoom to the shortest possible throw distance. So that means given the contrast of the device you’re going to have plenty of light to fill a 150” diagonal screen in a black room and still crystal high contrast images.

The performance drops significantly though if you move the project back to its maximum throwing distance. What will happen here is that it will lose 40% of the light and the Cinema 1 will drop to an output of 330 lumens.

So in other words to get the best images and output you really need to move the project forward. Either that or you’re going to have to reduce the screen size, or switch to a brighter operating mode.

Focusing – although this is not a big drawback, I had to mention that the Panasonic AE4000 is not as easy to focus compared to other models. For most projectors, getting the pixels to be as sharp and clear as you can is the hard bit. However, this is not possible on this device since the discrete pixels that you need to do this with are simply not there. So that means you’re going to have to look at the graphics provided, which is not exactly 100% ideal for the techy user.

There are also other minor disadvantages of the projector, however over it is a very good projector and for the price, it is nearly unbeatable in value.

Conclusion of the Panasonic AE4000

The Panasonic PT-AE4000 really does set out new ground rules for the home theater industry. They do this in terms of price for performance and really to find something that does what this device does for the amount of money you pay for it is almost impossible.

The price of $1999 really is worth it, especially taking into consideration that the predecessor cost nearly $3000! So if you are in the market looking to get one of these projectors, I highly recommend that you make your purchase from Amazon.com by clicking here. The reason is simple.
